tVNS EXPLAINED
What is taVNS?
Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) is a non-invasive approach that delivers electrical stimulation through the skin at the outer ear.

THE DEFINITION
Transcutaneous, auricular, and non-invasive.
Transcutaneous means through the skin. Auricular refers to the outer ear. Together, taVNS describes an external form of vagus nerve stimulation delivered at the ear, without a surgically implanted system.
Researchers continue to study devices, stimulation sites, parameters, outcome measures, and possible applications. Reviews also report substantial variation between devices and study protocols, which is why conclusions should stay tied to the method and product actually studied.
IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
Technology-area research is not product proof.
A paper about taVNS can explain the broader field. It does not, by itself, validate NeuroThaw A, NeuroThaw B, or any other named device. Product-specific evidence must identify the configuration tested, method, results, limitations, and intended use.

Two configurations in development.
Both NeuroThaw configurations are designed around left-ear taVNS and standalone operation. NeuroThaw B adds right-ear PPG for informational monitoring; it is not designed to automatically adjust stimulation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Short answers, clear boundaries.
What does taVNS stand for?
taVNS stands for transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation. It describes electrical stimulation delivered through the skin at the outer ear.
Is taVNS the same as implanted VNS?
No. Implanted vagus nerve stimulation uses a surgically placed system. taVNS is non-invasive and uses an external interface at the ear.
Does research on taVNS prove a specific device works?
No. Findings from general taVNS research cannot be transferred automatically to a particular product, configuration, or use case.
Is NeuroThaw currently available?
No availability, pricing, certification, market authorization, or launch date has been announced for NeuroThaw A or NeuroThaw B.
